Professors: Stop assigning group projects—it’s a bad idea.

Students: If you are doing a group project and you notice an e-mail relating to it, even if you have absolutely nothing of substance to offer, responding to acknowledge that you are aware of the existence of the e-mail is -fantastic- and instantly makes you more competent than 90% of the people I’ve had to work with in the past three years.
